White wenge has a soft, pale tone that runs from creamy tan to light brown. It is the lighter cousin of dark wenge, so you get a warm, mellow color with less of the heavy black streaking. Each blank is cut 2 inches thick, which gives you good depth for hollowing out a small bowl or dish.
These blanks turn well on the lathe. The wood is firm and dense, so it holds a clean edge and lets you cut nice thin walls. White wenge takes oil and wax finishes nicely, and the surface buffs up smooth with a soft sheen. It is a good pick for small bowls, cups, ring dishes, and other round work.
- Size 2 inches thick bowl blank
- 1 blank per pack
- Wood white wenge
- Good for small bowls, dishes, and lathe turning
Look close and you will see the open, straight grain that gives white wenge its coarse, lined feel. That texture stays visible through the finish and makes each turned piece show off real character.
