Turn your own baseball bat from this White Ash blank. Bat makers have used ash for a long time, and this 3 inch by 3 inch piece gives you the heft to shape a full size bat on the lathe. The stock is thick enough for a fat barrel and a tapered handle with wood to spare.
White Ash is a hard wood with a light cream to tan color. It has straight, open grain that turns clean and takes tools well. The wood is strong but still light in the hand, with a springy snap that bat fans look for. It also works for big spindles, mallets, tool handles, and other long turning jobs.
- Size 3 inch by 3 inch square stock
- One White Ash turning blank per order
- Hard, light wood with straight grain
- Great for baseball bats and large spindle turning
Sand it smooth and the pale grain really shows off. With age and an oil finish the tone warms to a soft honey brown that only looks better the more you swing it.
