Walnut Turning Blank Squares – 3″ x 3″

Black walnut grows across the eastern United States and has been a favorite of woodworkers for a very long time. We cut these turning blanks from solid walnut so you get a true hardwood square ready for the lathe. Each blank is squared up at 3 inches by 3 inches, which gives you a nice block to chuck up and start shaping.

This size is good for small bowls, cups, box lids, bottle stoppers, pen barrels, and short tool handles. The wood turns clean and takes fine detail without much fuss. Walnut sands to a smooth surface and shines up well with oil or wax, so your finished piece looks rich and warm.

The color runs from deep chocolate brown to a lighter tan near the edges, often with a soft straight grain that brings out shape and curve. Walnut is a dense, hard wood that stands up to years of use, so the pieces you turn from these blanks will hold up well and stay solid for a long time.
