Plain red oak is the wood most folks reach for, but quarter sawn white oak is a step up. This board is cut a special way so the grain runs straight and tight. That makes it more stable than flat sawn boards, so it stays flat and moves less as the seasons change. It is a hard, heavy wood that holds up to daily use.
You get one board at 3/4 inch thick and 6 inches wide. The 3/4 inch thickness is a common size for furniture tops, shelves, drawer fronts, and trim. White oak takes stain well and glues up clean, so it is easy to work with hand tools or power tools. The closed grain also resists water better than red oak.
- Size 3/4 inch thick by 6 inches wide
- One lumber board per order
- Wood is quarter sawn white oak
- Good for furniture, shelves, and trim
The real treat is the look. Quarter sawing brings out bright ray flecks that shimmer across the face, a pattern you just will not see on a flat sawn board.
