White oak has been a shop favorite since the days of barrels, boats, and old farm tables. This board is quarter sawn, which means the log was cut so the grain runs straight up and down the face. That cut shows off the wood’s famous ray fleck. You get bright ribbons and flecks that catch the light and give the board its signature look.
Each board is milled to 3/4 inch thick by 4 inches wide, so it works well for trim, drawer parts, frames, small tabletops, and fine furniture. The face is smooth with a tight, even grain and a warm tan to light brown color. Quarter sawn stock moves less as the seasons change, so it stays flat and true better than a flat sawn board.
- Wood quarter sawn white oak
- Size 3/4 inch thick by 4 inches wide
- Count one lumber board
- Good for furniture, trim, and frames
White oak is dense, hard, and tough, and its closed grain shrugs off water far better than red oak, so a piece like this holds up for years of hard use.
