If maple feels plain to you, Padauk is the wood that wakes a project up. It comes off the saw a bright orange-red that deepens over time. This pack gives you two boards milled to 3/4 inch thick by 4 inch wide, so you get matched stock for small builds without guessing.

Padauk is a hard, dense wood that stays straight and holds its shape well. The grain is open and a little coarse, which gives each board a warm, almost glowing color and a smooth feel once it is sanded. These two pieces work great for boxes, cutting board accents, knife scales, inlay strips, and other small lumber board jobs where you want a pop of color.

One quick tip. Padauk dust can stain lighter woods, so sand it on its own and wipe the surface clean before you glue up next to pale stock.
