Most folks start out turning pine or poplar, but this pack hands you three real hardwoods to compare side by side. You get hard maple, black walnut, and cherry in one set of turning blanks. Maple is pale and tight-grained. Walnut runs deep brown with rich streaks. Cherry sits in the middle with a warm reddish tone that gets darker as it ages.
Each blank is cut to 2 inches by 2 inches, and you get six pieces total. That gives you a fair amount of stock to test how each wood cuts, sands, and takes finish. It is a smart way to learn the feel of each species before you buy a full board.
- Size is 2 inches by 2 inches per blank
- Six pieces in the pack
- Maple, black walnut, and cherry hardwood
- Great for spindles, pens, and small handles
Glue all three woods together and turn a striped spinning top or a layered bottle stopper that shows off every color at once.
