Maple Bowl Blanks – 3″

Each one of these is a solid 3 inch thick block of hard maple, cut and ready to mount on your lathe. The 3 inch depth gives you room to turn a real bowl with some belly to it, not just a shallow dish. Square it up and core it out however your project needs.

Maple is a tight, dense hardwood. It turns clean, holds a crisp edge, and sands down very smooth. The grain is fine and even, so your tools track well and you get less tear-out than you do with softer woods. The wood is pale, close to cream or light tan, with the odd streak of color that makes each piece its own.
