Cedar Lumber for Sale

Most folks reach for pine when they want a soft, easy wood. Cedar gives you that same light weight and easy cut, but with a few things pine cannot match. It has a warm color and a smell that sticks around for years. Our cedar lumber boards are ready for furniture, cabinets, and all kinds of woodworking.

Where Cedar Comes From

Cedar grows across much of North America. Western Red Cedar comes from the Pacific Northwest, while Eastern Red Cedar grows over most of the eastern half of the land. Both kinds have been used for building and crafts for a very long time.

The trees grow tall and straight, which is why the boards tend to have clean, even grain.

Color and Grain

Cedar is known for its color. You will see warm reds, soft pinks, and pale cream all in the same board. Over time the wood fades to a soft gray if you leave it bare. The grain runs straight with a fine, even feel, though knots show up often and add a rustic look.

It is a soft wood, so it cuts, sands, and shapes with little effort. That makes it a good pick for both new and skilled woodworkers.

What People Build with It

Cedar lumber is a top choice for chests, closet liners, and storage boxes. The natural oils in the wood smell good and help keep bugs away from your clothes and blankets. People also use it for outdoor furniture, fence boards, planters, and trim because it stands up to weather and rot better than many soft woods.

A Use You May Not Think Of

Cedar does more than fill a workshop. Thin cedar planks work great on the grill and in the smoker. Soak a board, lay your fish or chicken on top, and the wood gives the food a light, smoky taste. So the same cedar that builds your bench can also flavor your dinner.
